Flex Thinking

What is Flex Thinking?

Everyone has seen some clever new invention or smartphone app and asked himself, “Why didn’t I think of that?” While that is a good question to ask, like most good questions, nobody ever provides a good answer to it. We are often urged to think outside the box, but it is left to us to figure out how to actually do this. Flex Thinking teaches you how to actually get outside of the box.

The class/book is divided into three sections:
  1. Assumptions (Recognizing the box)
  2. Opportunities (Finding weak spots in the box)
  3. Solution Patterns (Moving out of the box in simple and elegant ways)

Join us in the Flex Thinking Facebook group!

The Flex Thinking will change the way you view the world. You will start to see opportunities where none had seemed to exist. You will then learn to exploit these opportunities in novel ways. Instead of asking yourself why you didn’t think of this or that, you will be the one having the ideas.

Flex Thinking was developed by long-time Microsoft engineer Tom Sponheim, who noticed that job applicants who could think outside the box were often the ones who got the job and prospered, even if the skills and experience listed on their resume was lacking. By using the principles of Flex Thinking themselves, Tom was able to patent many ideas, including one of the early patents for Ajax web technologies, which are used by Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and thousands of other companies.
